Expressive Arts Therapy
The art of coming home to yourself.
Expressive Arts Therapy is a gentle, creative approach to exploring what is stirring within through imagination, embodiment, play, and sensory exploration. Using visual art, movement, music, writing, drama, and other creative modalities, we access parts of ourselves that words alone often cannot reach, opening pathways to deeper self-awareness, insight, and inner wisdom.

Unlike approaches that rely primarily on talking, Expressive Arts Therapy invites us to engage actively with our feelings—giving them shape, movement, voice, and expression. In doing so, we create movement where there was stuckness, discover new perspectives, and cultivate a greater sense of agency in our lives.

At Aroha, the focus is not on being “good” at art, but on the process itself. Guided with care, sessions weave together creative expression and reflection, helping you slow down, notice what is present, discover new perspectives, and reconnect with yourself. No artistic experience is needed—only curiosity, openness, and a willingness to explore.
